• Mechanistic link between macrozones and dwell fatigue damage is demonstrated based on the aspect ratio of macrozone. Preference sub-surface facets due to existence, causing quasi-plane strain conditions. High load shedding stress redistribution are related high-aspect-ratio macrozones.
